Doctoral Programmes - Business Economics - Suggested planning

 

First year

  • Students send an email to the administrative coordinator with a preliminary title and promotor (co-promotor)
  • Students choose courses amounting to 21 credits.
  • A minimum of 12 credits are from the Master of Advanced Business Studies.
  • Courses from outside the Master of Advanced Business Studies have a research focus and an Advanced Master's level.
  • Students submit their programme, before October 15, using the modules form
  • Progress report (Form progress report - PDF)

 

First and second year

  • Research proposal
  • Doctoral commission: at least 3 members, preferably including one member from a different research group.
  • The promotor sends an email disclosing the doctoral commission to the administrative coordinator, at least before the first doctoral seminar.

 

Second year

 

  • First doctoral seminar (this can consist of a thorough presentation of the doctoral proposal)
  • The promotor (with commission in cc) sends an e-mail to the administrative coordinator if the student passes for the doctoral seminar.
  • Progress report (Form progress report - PDF)

 

Third year

 

  • Second doctoral seminar
  • The promotor (with commission in cc) sends an e-mail to the administrative coordinator if the student passes for the doctoral seminar.
  • Final commission: at least 5 and at most 7 members, from which at least one does not belong to the association of the K.U.Leuven (Form final commission - PDF)
  • Active presentation in an international refereed conference
  • Progress report (Form progress report- (PDF)

 

Fourth year

  • Publication in an international refereed journal
  • Pre-defence: submitting the final text at least 4 weeks before the pre-defence to the commission.
  • Submitting the form evaluation pre-defence to the administrative coordinator(Form pre-defence (PDF)
  • Public defence: submitting the final text at least 4 weeks before the public defence to the commission.
  • Submitting the form "application for public defence" at least 6 weeks before the public defence to the administrative coordinator  (Form application for public defense - PDF)
  • If "passed for the pre-defence under condition": approval for printing.
  • Guidelines public defense
