Nico Vandaele holds a degree Commercial Engineering (1990) and obtained a PhD. in Applied Economics, Operations Management from the K.U. Leuven in 1996. He has been Full Professor Operations Management at the University of Antwerp from 1996 till 2006. From October 1, 2006 he joined the K.U. Leuven, Campus Kortrijk. He is a research member of the department KBI (Faculty of Applied Economics), research group Operations Management.

Nico Vandaele teaches courses for bachelor and master degrees in statistics, operations research and operations management, at the Campus Kortrijk and Campus Leuven: Linear Programming, Probability Theory, Statistics, Supply Chain Management and Production Management.

His research interests are situated in modeling of manufacturing and service systems, performance measurement, the design of planning systems, factory physics, health care management and traffic modeling. He published in leading journals like IIE Transactions, Managements Science, Transportation Research, European Journal of Operational Research, Interfaces, among others. He is active in several executive training programs, both national and international, and has served as consultant/advisor for major global companies, like !nbev, Atlas Copco, IBM, Baxter, Johnson & Johnson, Continental, Monsanto, as well as small and medium sized companies.
