Application Deadlines

February 1 for applications of non-EEA citizens for Bachelor's programmes in Dutch

March 1 for applications of non-EEA citizens for master's programmes in English 

June 1 for applications of EEA citizens

June 1 for applications of non-EEA citizens living in Belgium with a residence permit

No deadline for applications for predoctoral and doctoral programmes

No deadline for applications of international scholars and visiting scholars

Application File

The full application file consists of the following items:

  • A duly completed application form (download below)
  • Certified and translated diploma and transcripts listing all individual university courses and grades prior to application.
  • For all Advanced Master's Programmes (Master of Financial Economics, Master of Financial and Actuarial Engineering, Master of Advanced Studies in Economics, Master of Advanced Business Studies) and in some cases also for the other Master's Programmes (check the admission requirements):  
    • A recent score on either the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examinations (GRE). For Master of Advanced Studies in Economics only GRE is accepted. Check the admission requirements for more information.
    • Two letters of recommendation (download here), filled out, signed and mailed in a closed envelop signed over the lid by the referee to the Faculty of Business and Economics or send directly by the recommendor to fbe@econ.kuleuven.be.
    • A letter of motivation

Only complete files will be considered, and submitted files will not be returned to the applicant. All applications are reviewed by the Admission Committee.

  • Belgian students with a Flemish Diploma who apply for a(n advanced) master programme :

    • Students that have direct access to a programme (check the admission requirements!) , do not have to submit an application file
  • Belgian students with a Flemish Diploma who apply for a Ph.D. programme:
    • Use the word form: download, fill in with computer (requires MS Word) and send by mail to:
