OpenConnect is funding a five-year joint research initiative
with Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (K.U.Leuven) to discover
and refine new methods for automated business process
discovery and analysis. The goal of the research study is to
determine new mathematical systems for business analytics
that will diagnose the root cause of process inefficiencies.
Current mathematical and scientific methods for business
analysis and data mining are not always suited for
evaluating the level of detail required for analyzing
unstructured data and the human dynamics of business
processes. There is a tremendous need to investigate this
further to determine scientifically valid approaches that
can be applied through business analytics technology. This
joint research effort is positioned to advance the pace of
innovation in process analytics software. Professor Dr.
Guido Dedene, Faculty of Economics/Applied Economics is the
holder of the Chair and, along with Ir. Edward Peters,
OpenConnect’s CEO, directs the research efforts. Mr. Peters has a 20 year long history of collaboration with K.U.Leuven where he is currently Special Guest Professor of Information Technology Management in the department of Economics/Applied Economics. Additionally, from 1991 – 1994, he held an appointment at K.U.Leuven as Visiting Lecturer in Management Informatics. Professor Dr. Guido Dedene has been a member of the Faculty of Business and Economics at K.U.Leuven for over 20 years. He has published over 50 articles on the subject of information technology management ranging from capacity planning to strategic business – ICT alignment. He also holds faculty appointments at the Amsterdam Business School in the Netherlands and the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School in Belgium. Having engaged in research programs in Business Information Systems for more than 30 years, K.U.Leuven has recently been named by the ACM as of the top 25 universities in the world for software engineering research.
